Do something! - by Mary Scott

I'm not really into poetry. It's one of the many things I wish I knew more about, it seems like something I'd enjoy but I've never spent enough time on it…yet. However, the first thing that came into my head when asked to write this was a poem often recited to me growing up (my dad actually quoted it at my sister's wedding!)

Growing Through Education

In IBM continuing to grow through education is key to your success so when the opportunity came up to work with Margo and Roberta from Training Matters I had to oblige! From the very first meeting with Margo I felt so comfortable and at ease – she is a very inspirational lady!

How personal and professional development should really work

At Training Matters, we have always maintained that a big part of an organisations success is down to the talented people who work within them. We want to feature one of our candidates this month who is a real inspiration to other people and a true example of how personal and professional development should really work.

First Minister Helps Serve Up New Five Star Apprenticeship

FIRST Minister Alex Salmond today [27th September] helped to serve up plans for a new Scottish hospitality apprenticeship scheme as part of the legacy of The 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles. Diageo Chief Executive Ivan Menezes welcomed Mr Salmond to the Johnnie Walker Experience at The 2014 Ryder Cup to announce the Scottish Hospitality Apprenticeship – an industry-led initiative to establish the first apprenticeship of its kind in the UK.

Pure Dead Brilliant

I always said that I wanted to be a part of Glasgow 2014, even before the euphoria of London 2012 grasped the nation. However, it was only a chance comment by a friend that I realised that there were pre-games volunteer positions.

Personality styles and you

We deliver management development programmes and the starting point is always you. The first module is all about you, your self-development, your training records, your strengths and areas for development, your aspirations, your work goals, feedback on your performance, your likes and dislikes, your current knowledge and skills.....the list in endless and there is a lot of you in there!

Opportunity for young future leaders...

We are looking for organisations to work with us to help develop and nurture our future leaders and managers. The programme will develop those young people with the drive and energy who want to help grow the business. They will acquire the knowledge and skills in managing themselves, providing direction, allocating and monitoring the quality of work in their area and managing a project.

Resolutions for 2014

Happy New Year! Just over 2 weeks into 2014 and I wonder how all those New Year resolutions are progressing?

Self Development Matters

How much time, energy and effort do you invest in yourself?

His Mum Audrey has worked with Training Matters for over 10 years and our mission statement “Be the Best you can Be” is in her DNA.
